കേരള കാത്തലിക് ബൈബിൾ സൊസൈറ്റി ചരിത്രം

1990 ജൂൺ 14 ന് നടന്ന പി ഒ സി ജനറൽ ബോഡി മീറ്റിംഗിൽ ബൈബിൾ കമ്മീഷൻ ചെയർമാൻ അഭിവന്ദ്യ മാർ ജോർജ്ജ് പുന്നക്കോട്ടിൽ പിതാവാണ് ആദ്യമായി ബൈബിൾ സൊസൈറ്റി എന്ന ആശയം അവതരിപ്പിച്ചത്. എല്ലാവരും പ്രസ്തുത ആശയത്തെ യാതൊരഭിപ്രായ വ്യത്യാസവുമില്ലാതെ സ്വാഗതം ചെയ്തു 1990 ജൂലൈ 19 ന് ബൈബിൾസൊസൈറ്റി രൂപീകരണത്തിനായി പി ഒ സി യിൽ വച്ച് മറ്റൊരു യോഗം സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുകയും ആ യോഗത്തിൽവച്ച് സൊസൈറ്റിയുടെ എല്ലാതലങ്ങളെ കുറിച്ചും ചർച്ച ചെയുകയും സൊസൈറ്റി രൂപീകരണത്തിനാവശ്യമായ നടപടികൾക്ക് നേതൃത്വം കൊടുക്കുന്നതിനായി 11 അംഗങ്ങൾ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു അഡ്ഹോക് കമ്മറ്റിയെ തെരെഞ്ഞെടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. 1990 നവംബർ 30 ന് അഡ്ഹോക് കമ്മിറ്റി വീണ്ടും പി ഒ സി യിൽ സമ്മേളിക്കുകയും സൊസൈറ്റിയുടെ ഒൗപചാരിക ഉദ്ഘാടനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു തീരുമാനങ്ങളെടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. 1990 ഡിസംബർ 11 ന് പി ഒ സി യിൽ അഭിവന്ദ്യ കർദ്ദിനാൾ മാർ ആൻറണി പടിയറ, കെ സി ബി സി ചെയർമാൻ അഭിവന്ദ്യ ആർച്ചുബിഷപ്പ് കൊർണേലിയസ് ഇലഞ്ഞിക്കൽ, ബൈബിൾ കമ്മീഷൻ ചെയർമാൻ മാർ ജോർജ്ജ് പുന്നക്കോട്ടിൽ, കെ സി ബി സി സെക്രട്ടറി മാർ ജെയിംസ് പഴയാറ്റിൽ, സി ബി സി ഐ സെക്രട്ടറി മാർ അപ്രേം എന്നിവരുടെ മഹനീയ സാന്നിദ്ധ്യത്തിൽ നടന്ന പൊതുയോഗത്തിൽ ബൈബിൾ സൊസൈറ്റി ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടു. അതിനുശേഷം അഭിവന്ദ്യ മാർ ജോർജ്ജ് പുന്നക്കോട്ടിൽ പിതാവിന്റെ അധ്യക്ഷതയിൽ സൊസൈറ്റിയുടെ ആദ്യയോഗം ചേർന്നു. പ്രസ്തുത യോഗത്തിൽ സൊസൈറ്റിയുടെ ഭാവിപരിപാടികളെപ്പറ്റിയും സൊസൈറ്റി രജിസ്ട്രേഷനെ സംബന്ധിച്ചും പ്രധാന തീരുമാനങ്ങളെടുത്തു. ഉദ്ഘാടന ദിവസം തന്നെ 73 പേരോളം സൊസൈറ്റി മെമ്പർഷിപ്പ് എടുത്ത് അംഗങ്ങളായി ചേർന്നു. ഇന്ന് കേരള കത്തോലിക്ക സഭയുടെ സിരാകേന്ദ്രമായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നത് ഈ ബൈബിൾ സൊസൈറ്റിയാണ്.

Mar George Punnakkottil, Chairman of the Bible Commission proposed the idea of a Bible Society in a general body meeting of P O C held on 14th June 1990. Everybody whole heartedly welcomed the idea. Another meeting was held on 19th July 1990 in order to from the Bible Society. The meeting discussed every point concerning the society. And an adhoc committee of eleven elected members formed to do the necessary things in constitution a Bible Society. On 30th November 1990 the adhoc committee gathered in P O C and took decisions about the official inauguration of the Bible Society was inaugurated on 11th December 1990 in a meeting held in P O C. His grace Cardinal Mar Antony Padiyara, Arch bishop Cornelius Elenjikkal, KCBC Chairman, Mar George Punnakkottil, chairman of Bible Commission. Mar James Pazhayattil Secretary of KCBC, and Mar Ephreme Secretary of CBCI were present in the meeting. After the general meeting, the first meeting of the Bible Society was held under the chairmanship of Mar George Punnakkottil. Important decisions about the future programmes and about the registration of the Society were taken in the meeting. On the day of inauguration itself 73 persons took membership in the Society. It is this Bible Society that acts as the intelligence of Kerala Catholic Church.
